Thermal Plants
Domestic and National Energy
20% of the fuel requirement of the thermal plants producing electricity with domestic coal is provided by Our Enterprises.
In the Year 2019, it is observed that coal-fired electricity production is ranked first with 113.1 billion kWh and the share of 37.2 percent in the total electricity production. Domestic coal-fired production, including lignite, asphaltite, and hard coal, was measured as 52.74 billion kWh with a share of 17.33 percent in the total electricity production.
At this point, electricity production using domestic coal increased by about 2.5 billion kWh compared to the previous year and reached up to 52.74 billion kWh, while the electricity production based on import coal decreased down to 60.4 billion kWh with around 2 billion kWh reduction compared to the last year (TKI Sector Report, 2019).
TKI supplies 20 percent of the coal requirement of the thermal plants firing domestic coal as fuel. On this basis, 10 million tonnes of coal is provided annually from Our Operation Directorates, which are ELI, GLI, and ÇLI, to Soma and Tuncbilek Thermal Plants, 18 Mart Çan Thermal Plant affiliated to EUAS, and ODAS Çan-2 Thermal Plant.
