Reforestation Activities

Based on its past experience and expertise, TKI carries out reforestation and rehabilitation activities in the mining areas where no longer production is performed so as to increase the forested land in Turkey and meet the expectations regarding the sustainable usage of the forests. Under the scope of these activities, it is aimed to restore the ecological and aesthetic values in the area disturbed by previous mining operations, and environmental awareness of TKI is revealed clearly through these rehabilitation works.

Lavender Plantation

Ecosensitive reclamation and rehabilitation studies are performed each year in a planned way for the areas that deteriorate due to overburden stripping operations carried out in the coal mining sites of TKI.

The waste dumpsite located in the 300-decare old mining area of CLI (Çan Lignite Directorate) was planted lavender following the related rehabilitation studies under the scope of the developed Socio-Environment projects. These projects are environment-friendly, capable of changing social perception for mining, and suitable for the local conditions.

Olive Oil Production

By reforesting the areas with no longer production, we get a chance to reveal our intimate commitment to nature.

Approximately 7,600 olive trees have been planted in suitable areas considering the soil conditions and elevational variations.

Olives from the planted trees are used to produce olive oil, and the produced oil is used for lunches provided for the TKI personnel in Social Facilities.
